Introduction to the challenge

On its site in Rieme (Ertvelde), TOTAL has a significant discharge and supply piping network for its sanitary and production needs. Hydroscan prepared a master plan for the operation of the on-site water discharge in order to ensure the optimal allocation of the available budgets and to minimise the risk of infrastructure failures.

This project covered all phases of a sewerage management plan:
  • Collection and organisation of available data (physical data, inspection data, GIS data)
  • Preparation of a reference framework with performance requirements; Preparation of a strategic matrix;
  • Analysis of strategic and critical areas; Risk assessment (structural, hydraulic, ecological)
  • Proposal for additional inspection programme
  • Proposal for maintenance programme
  • Evaluation of inspection results of additional research
  • Ageing analysis by means of statistical ageing model
  • Preparation of repair and replacement programme
  • Preparation of a preventive monitoring programme
  • Action plan with short-term, medium-term and long-term planning
  • Preparation of project sheets for top priority projects
  • Preparation of a budget planning for replacement, repair and monitoring programme
  • Preparation of specifications
  • Preparation a sewerage database

Our solution

Multiannual planning for integrated sewerage management

  • The result of this assignment was a multi-year planning for on-site sewerage management, backed up by an up-to-date database.
  • A maintenance contract with the customer was signed, so that the database is always up-to-date and can be accessed by the customer via an internet connection.
  • At the same time, the customer's sewerage database is continuously kept up-to-date and the multi-year planning is updated at regular intervals.
  • A similar project was subsequently undertaken for the TOTAL site in Schoten.
