As part our expansion, we are looking to reinforce our innovation team with a Data Science Engineer
As Data Science Engineer you will be a key contributor to the development of new smart water solutions.
We work on hybrid solutions that combine data-driven models with physically based models to provide optimal solutions tailored to our clients' needs. These models account for both time-dependent behavior and spatial variations, enabling us to effectively model water flows through natural and urban water systems.
Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Machine Learning
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets to generate actionable insights for project improvement
- Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models tailored to our industry-specific needs
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact data-driven solutions
- Machine Learning Pipeline Development
- Create, optimize, and maintain data pipelines for machine learning and statistical analysis
- Integrate data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and data quality
- Conduct testing and validation of models to guarantee reliability
- Python Development for Data Science
- Develop data engineering and machine learning applications in Python, using libraries like Pandas, NumPy… and deep learning frameworks
- Ensure code quality through best practices in documentation and version control
- Collaboration and Communication
- Effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Present data insights in an understandable format, supporting data-driven decision-making within the team
Your profile
- Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Experience with cloud platforms and big data tools
- Proficiency with databases (SQL, Mongo…)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Eager to learn and getting positive energy from searching for new solutions and exploring the unknown
- Initiator who can work independently and purposeful
- Hands-on mentality, flexible and not afraid of some tasks outside the specific responsibilities
- Must-haves qualifications:
- Experience in Data Analysis and Machine Learning
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data analysis and machine learning, with demonstrated projects or roles in applying predictive modeling.
- Proficiency in Python
- Strong skills in Python for data analysis and machine learning, along with experience in essential libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy…)
- Native proficiency in Dutch or French or English, with minimum professional-level English
- Experience in Data Analysis and Machine Learning
- Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience in the Water Sector and Water Modeling
- Background in solutions for water management, hydrological or hydraulic modeling, or other relevant water sector experience
- Power BI Experience
- Skilled in Power BI for creating dashboards and visualizations that turn complex data into accessible insights
- GIS and Scripting Experience
- Knowledge of GIS, particularly with scripting experience for spatial data manipulation and visualization
- Front-End Development
- Basic experience in front-end development for building user-friendly interfaces that support data visualization and access
- Experience in the Water Sector and Water Modeling
